Deadhead

In short

Deadhead is when a truck drives empty.

In plain words

You took a girl to dinner. You paid. You drove her home across the whole city.

At her door: 'Thanks, bye.' Not even a coffee invite. You got played.

Now you drive back, empty, mad, and broke.

That's deadhead. You burn diesel, you rack up miles, and nobody pays you a cent.

Example: you deliver to Florida, and there are no loads coming out. Three hundred empty miles is almost three hundred dollars of diesel. Straight to zero.

A good dispatcher is like a good friend: he knows where you're wanted before you get there.

Your turn

What's the most miles you've ever run empty? Tell us in the comments.
